Our Wonderful Winter-full Weather
By Brett A. Starr on February 19, 2021

It came upon a cool crisp winter’s day
A flock of fluffy flakes floated effortlessly
On down they came from the sky, so simply to say
“Hello, I brought a few friends with me.”

Old man winter had trimmed the tall tulip trees
With tiny tinsel toppings so shiny and white
The sugar-coated spruce stood proudly with ease
Its branches boasted bravely just before night.

An anxious kettle hissed the time for twilight tea
A crystal cup sat silently on a stand by the fire
A comforter and a cozy chair concealed me
From a delicate draft as I rested and retired.

I browsed a book of poetry and read by the hearth
The waltz of my words quite simply was heard
By the walls and the chairs but not in the garth
My sound was silenced; my vision was blurred.

I closed my eyes and nestled my head
I thought to myself how nice it had been
To be greeted so beautifully by a soft winter bed
Of a few fluffy flakes, and their innumerable friends.
