What Makes This Book Different
• Most self-help books on bipolar disorder are written from technical standpoint. They are usually dry reading with a lot of 50 cent words and are hard to read.

• Where this book is different:
• Hope – by telling an open, honest, and sometimes humorous story, a reader can feel less alone and less hopeless. If the author can live through the trials and tribulations laid out in the book, then perhaps the reader can get there too.

• Simplicity – this book is intentionally kept short, about 25,000 words. The language is simple and is very readable. The clock analogy is something that is easy to understand and uses a device that is familiar to first graders.

• Actionable Insight – each stage of the disease represented on the clock has its unique characteristics. Once the reader understands the stages of the disease, it is easy to look at the clock and tell where they are at in their recovery. This makes it a useful tool.
• Bipolar disorder affects about 2.8% of the US adult population. 83% of those cases are classified as severe. There is no cure.

• The author has lived with bipolar disorder for more than 30 years. It is a difficult disease to manage and can be overwhelming to both the patient and those who love the patient.

• It is obvious that many doctors and therapists are available to help patients manage the disease, but in reality, patients and family spend only a handful of hours with the medical professionals. It is up to the patient to manage the disease the rest of the time.

• Many of these patients and their families are looking for help beyond the medical practitioners, so there is a market for books on the subject. Unfortunately, many of these works are highly technical, difficult to read, and lack a certain amount of practical, actionable advice. This creates a hole in the market for a simple, readable, and useful work.
